My 1st Guard Duty in unit
Yesterday, it was finally my turn to do guard duty since I was posted to the squadron. Being a greenhorn, I had to learn everything from scratch and was guided in everything that I did. More often than not, I feel that being a guard is akin to being a maid as we have to clear up stuff and wash things too. Notwithstanding, it was quite an invaluable experience which I will otherwise not have while working outside.
Actually, most of the chores were done in the evenings and nite time was reserved to answering the phone calls and to further pack up and prepare ourselves for the next day. The sergeants who did duty with me were friendly and we were more like friends than superiors and subordinates.
Luckily for us, we handed over our duty to the next shift and could go off at 9am after 25hours of guard duty. May the next guard duty which I am going to do, which is in a fornight from now, be as interesting and nice as the one yesterday.
